Vacuum Insulation Panels in Refrigeration – Stationary

Vacuum Insulation Panels with low thermal conductivity can offer reduced power consumption for refrigeration. For applications at cryogenic temperatures the advantages are even more pronounced.

Whether manufacturing a new product or retro-fitting an existing unit, Kevothermal Insulation's Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs) offer energy savings in wall thicknesses that have never been possible before. At a U-value of 0.142W/m²K specification it would take approximately 175mm of traditional insulation wall thickness to equal the Vacuum Insulation Panel's 25mm thermal efficiency.

Some of the many benefits of using Kevothermal Vacuum Insulation Panels are as follows:

  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Reduced weight
  • Shorter compressor runtimes
  • Better temperature distribution
  • Smaller unit "foot print"
  • Faster pulldown

The typical wall thickness of a residential refrigerator is 50 mm (2"). The graph above illustrates the effect on thermal conductivity (U) by adding varying thicknesses of VIPs.  A 25 mm (1") VIP reduces the heat gain by a
factor of 4.
